Indications & formulation #
Schizophrenia in adults. This reference covers the selected formulation; other indications and products need their own evidence.
Dose reference #
Adult educational reference · Oral tablet · United States. The clinician selects treatment after assessment; this page does not calculate or change a prescription.
Start/target 10–15 mg once daily. Reassess before increases, generally after two weeks. Studied range 10–30 mg/day; higher doses did not improve average efficacy.
Contraindications & important cautions #
Ask about akathisia and new compulsive behavior. Review metabolic effects and dementia-related mortality warning.
Selected important cautions; consult the full product information for all contraindications and warnings.
Adverse effects #
Akathisia, activation and impulse-control problems require inquiry; other antipsychotic cautions remain relevant.
Interactions #
CYP2D6/CYP3A4 modifiers affect exposure; formulation-specific instructions apply to long-acting products.
Monitoring #
Ask about restlessness and new compulsive behaviours; review response, movements, sleep and metabolic findings.
Special populations #
CYP2D6 poor metabolism and CYP2D6/CYP3A4 inhibitors require label-specific reductions; combined modifiers require further adjustment.
Adult scope. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and pediatric use require the exact product’s population-specific guidance and individual assessment.
Discontinuation, restarting & counseling #
Plan reduction and relapse monitoring; oral dosing is not a depot conversion instruction.
Condition-specific prescribing #
Additional indication-specific records retain their own formulation and source context.
