PurposeEating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) — administration and scoring reference.

Administration

Use the selected Oxford EDE-Q edition and its specified recall period. Distinguish rating-scale responses from episode-frequency counts.

Scoring method

Defined subscale/global scores; behavioral-frequency items separate.

Interpretation & limitations

  • Use the official subscale means and global-score procedure. Interpret behaviors and impairment in a clinical eating-disorder assessment.
  • Interpret the findings alongside the clinical interview, functioning, history and relevant physical assessment.
  • Do not sum behavioral-frequency answers into the global attitudinal score or apply EDE interview rules to EDE-Q without checking the edition.
  • Use the original instrument and manual for item wording, rating anchors, missing-data rules and any normative conversions. This reference does not establish a diagnosis or select treatment.
